Which House Is Which?

If you’ve ever looked at a lot of houses in a short period of time you know how confusing it can be after a while.

You start to think “We liked the house with the granite counters but the bathrooms were tired – or wait, maybe the outdated bathrooms were in the house with the hot tub?”

You can solve this problem by taking notes while visiting each house. Write down features that matter to you. Also, think about colors in key rooms and how you felt in various spaces. Picture yourself in the home and think about how the rooms flow from one to the next. Does the traffic pattern fit your family’s needs? Will your furniture fit? Do you feel like you belong?

An Emotional Response

These may seem like subtle things, but a home is filled with emotion and everyone responds differently to light, color, texture, and space.

Consider what you like and don’t like and then try to decide if your dislikes are cosmetic and easily changed or if you’d have to make expensive changes to the physical layout.

You might even take some photos of each house and use these to remind yourself of where you’ve been and what you’ve seen. It may seem like a lot of work but, in the end, you’ll be glad you put in the extra effort.
